Layton Dad: Duder are you going to take your mom on a date?
Duder: No, I don't know how to drive yet.
We all got a good laugh out of this. What a funny little boy. He didn't even have to think about it, without a pause that is what came out of his little mouth.

This week at my house
Lil' Miss decided she wanted the carpet to be softer. Maybe an entire bottle of conditioner will help that. Not so much. It just makes a really big mess. That evening she decided to play in a can of cherry pie filling. A screwdriver makes a good stirring utensil don't you think? She also tried to use the can opener to open the already open can of said filling. Luckily Layton Dad dealt with that mess.
I buy my sugar in 25 lb. bags and then store it in 5 gallon buckets in my pantry, Lil' Miss and Duder decided that it would be fun to play in the sugar. They thought it would make a nice floor covering. Once again, not so much.
I had the pleasure (I use this word very loosely) of taking Lil' Miss to Redicare today. When she woke up she had bloody yuck oozing from her right ear. Lovely, I promise. It took two hours to find out what I already knew. She had an ear infection that ruptured her ear drum and needed a good dose of antibiotics. I always feel like such a bad mom when I have to take her in for this. The Dr. always looks at me like come on lady didn't she show any signs of discomfort. With Lil' Miss I can honestly say no. Her temperament never changes and she is so mellow. By the time I notice something wrong, there is stuff oozing from her ear.
I can't wait for this week to be over.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
So, Duder woke up this morning, looked out the front window, and declared, "It's snowing! Now it can be Christmas." Then proceeded to plug in the Christmas tree and garland. I thought it was so cute.
Despite the snow this morning that darn bus was still right on time @ 8:10. Stupid bus. I thought for sure the snow would buy us 5 minutes but I was sadly mistaken and Layton Dad had to take Princess to school. Of course, she was totally heart broken to be "forced" to take a ride in Daddy's truck. What is so fascinating about riding with Dad?
So, it really is starting to feel like Christmas at the Layton house. I put up one tree Thanksgiving weekend, the kids and I put up the second one last week. The invitations for the Christmas party are almost ready to be delivered, and all I have to do is print address labels for the Christmas cards. Now, if only I could drag myself out to do the Christmas shopping life would be blissfully Christmasy. Oh and then there is the matter of cleaning the house for the Christmas party. Ok so maybe I am not quite as organized as I would like but, I still love Christmas, and it really does feel like Christmas and isn't that the post title?

Happy Birthday Duder!
My little Dude is 3!!! He celebrated his birthday while we were in Boise and his WONDERFUL Aunt Beth planned and executed a spectacular birthday celebration. She even made the cake and all the party games. She made his special day very special. Thanks Beth!

J.G. Wentworth
Have you seen this commercial? (Click on the "It's My Money" line to view) Apparently my children have.
Jaren was putting Duder to bed one night and in his near sleep stuper he looked at Jaren and shouted, "It's my money and I need it now!" It was pretty funny! Now both Duder and Ila run around shouting it. It really cracks me up!

All is well
These are before and after surgery on Wednesday. All went well, best case scenario the Dr. said. He has two incisions that need to heal but he is back to his old self, climbing all over everything and just being a typical little boy. He has handled everything very well and I am so lucky to have this sweet little guy in my family to raise. Thank you all so much for your prayers in our behalf. They were cerainly felt, and greatly appreciated.
