Yesterday I received a phone call from the endodontist's office. I had a root canal that needed to be done and they happened to have an appointment fro 9:00 this morning. I figured I could handle one root canal after all the work I had done in the dentists chair a week and a half ago.
My dear husband kept the kiddos for me while I took my vacation to the Doc's office. Aside from multiple shots of Novocaine it wasn't too bad. When the receptionist called she said to plan for an hour and she wasn't kidding. I arrived at 9:00 and was in the car calling home at 10:00.
I felt pretty good so I decided to run home and get the kids and then go run some errands. Pick up Rx, go to Sam's, etc., etc. After my errands I took a few Ibuprofen and continued to work on some housework and get ready to take Ila to dance class. About half way through dance class it finally hit me. I wasn't doing so hot. I survived the class and made it home safely. (Definitely Divine Intervention)
Of course Stacy napped during dance class and Jayce fell asleep in the car on the way home. We managed to keep Jayce asleep during transport to his bed but Stacy was ready to play. So, being the wonderful mother that I am, I asked Ila to keep an eye on Stacy while I had a little rest.
I had just fallen asleep when I wake up to, "MOM, MOM, Stacy is crawling up the stairs!" She has never even attempted this before and has cried anytime I have tried to encourage her to do it. So I groggily replied, "Which stair is she on?" Thinking that Ila would be able to remove her from the bottom step and shoo her to safety. "UMM MOM, She is almost at the TOP!" I jumped off the couch and raced to the stairs. Sure enough there is my little angel perched two stairs from the top just beaming at me.
Needless to say I have located my baby gate and it is now in use at the bottom of the stairs. That will teach me to have a root canal and still try to function as a mother!

:) Motherhood is exhausting, why didn't we get handbooks? Sounds like you had a day like mine! How are you feeling now?
I don't know if a YAY! or an UGH! is in order. I love when my kids learn to go up and down the stairs, but the prospect of them falling is dreadful. Sorry about your tooth!
The word root canal makes me nauseous I had a real bad experience one time, glad yours went o.k. The stairs freak me out to, Isaac just figured that out also!
Arin! You went to the DENTIST??? Whoa baby... about the dentist and the Stacy! haha, leave it up to your kiddos to do something like that. :) Thankfully Jayce was in his bed, right?? :) Love you ALL
ouch. ouch, ouch.
I would have used that as an excuse to have the day OFF!!! lol
Ooh, I have never had a root canal, and I don't want one!! I hate those shots. It feels like they're shooting into your brain. How cute that Stacy was so proud of herself! And I'm glad that she was safe. My oldest son once fell down WOODEN stairs when he was a toddler. Thunk, thunk, thunk, went his head. It was sickening. Luckily, he didn't damage it. Pete says that Dylan's head is indestructible.
