Park Meltdown

Today was the first day of our annual park adventure series. Basically, the women in our ward all get together at a different park on Tuesday of each week. It is something that we all look forward to. The kids get to play and be free while Mom gets to sit and visit. It is great. This year we are doing it with the ward that was just split from ours. We had tons of people show up today. It was good to see women that I haven't seen in a while and just catch up.

Now for the meltdown part. Ila was really sad that her friend Sidney was running around wherever she wanted and I was insistent that she stay where I could see her. I didn't think that this was such a bad thing but she did. Duder quickly disposed of his hat once he really started playing and another little boy picked it up and put it on. I was not concerned. I was fully aware of the situation and Ila freaked out. Not just a little freak out but screaming, yelling, it's the end of the world freak out. I could not make her understand that it was okay and Duder didn't seem to mind. I told her that she needed to calm down or we were going to have to leave. If I thought it was the end of the world before, it really was now. I didn't think she could get any more upset or loud. Boy was I wrong.

Needless to say we promptly folded the blanket and trekked back to the car to come home. She yelled and screamed making a scene all the way there and it didn't stop even after we got home.

She was fed and promptly put to bed. I am so exhausted from her antics but must pat myself on the back for not yelling back and making things worse. I think I need a mommy break. Even if it is just a few hours. :)

Oh, I can totally see that face of Ila's when she does that. And her little dance and little shakey whine because of the dance. Sorry Arin! I will be a good Auntie and call her today (I forgot yesterday on her bday!!!) I will remind her to be good for Mommy. :)
